After many years of being classified under the umbrella of obsessive compulsive disorder, hoarding disorder now has its own distinct classification within the DSM V. This means that hoarding disorder can now be treated as its own separate disorder and thus mitigates any misdiagnosis issues resulting in a clearer treatment focus for the future.
